Feeling Dysconscious after All: A Post-Qualitative Account of Critical Consciousness Coursework
Arnberg, Benjamin Tyler; Andrzejewski, Carey E.; Baggett, Hannah Carson
AERA Online Paper Repository, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (Toronto, Canada, Apr 5-9, 2019)
Our study uses post-qualitative methods to create vignettes of critical consciousness or dysconsciousness of five white, pre-service teachers (two featured here). These vignettes help us reevaluate the effectiveness of critical conscious-building pedagogy as well as our methods for assessing critical consciousness (or dysconsciousness) at a predominantly white Southern institution.
