Prevocational Assessment Screen (P.A.S.) Evaluator's Manual.
Rosinek, Michele
The Prevocational Assessment Screen (PAS) is designed to provide instructors or evaluators with a quick (50 minutes to score and administer) and simple (requiring no training to administer) method of screening mildly handicapped and disadvantaged youth between 14 and 21 years of age for job training and placement. PAS contains eight samples which screen for the following job and training aptitudes: Alphabetizing (verbal clerical perception); Etch-A-Sketch Maze (motor coordination); Calculating (numerical clerical perception); Small Parts (finger dexterity); Pipe Assembly (manual dexterity); O-Rings (form perception); Block Design (spatial perception); and Color Sort (color perception). This manual provides instructions for administration and evaluation of each of the samples. Guidelines and forms for reporting procedures and intake are included. A chart for correlating PAS aptitudes to job characteristics listed in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles and to specific vocational programs is provided. Appendices provide technical information about the PAS (test reliability, norms, validity), a list of parts needed for the screening tests, and documentation for computerized scoring and performance matrix.
