This survey, which covers the 1985-86 school year, is the third statewide computer survey by the South Carolina Department of Education. The report provides an overview of the instructional and administrative uses of computers in 92 of the state's 94 districts including the following elements: (1) subject areas in which computers are used; (2) grade level or range in which computers are used; (3) brand and model of computer used at each grade level for each particular instructional application; (4) additional descriptive information on use; (5) quantity of software programs available by subject areas; and (6) future plans for computer applications, purchase, and training. A comparison with data from the March 1985 survey is provided where appropriate to provide indications of trends for use in decision making by educators.
