Student Source Survey, Summer and Fall Terms, 1981. First Time Entering Freshmen [and] Transfer Students. Alabama Public Senior Institutions.

Results of the fall 1981 Student Source Survey of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education are presented. The geographic locations of the public senior and junior colleges and private senior and junior colleges are shown with maps. Data are provided on: the relative participation of first-time entering (FTE) freshmen by county, FTE-freshmen as a percent of high school graduates, and the counties supplying FTE-freshmen for 14 colleges and universities. For each of the 14 institutions, data are provided for 1972, 1975, and 1981 on: total undergraduate enrollment, total FTE-freshmen enrollment, number of in-state and out-of-state FTE-freshmen, number of FTE-freshmen from home and adjoining counties, and foreign FTE-freshmen enrollment. For each institution, data are also included on the number of transfer students, including in-state and out-of-state transfers, along with the sector from which the student transfered. Additional information includes: the percentage of white and black FTE-freshmen by county and by institution, the percentage of white and black transfer students. The survey instrument is appended, along with summary statistics on the responses. (SW)
