This loose-leaf directory of California state agency libraries and information sources lists names of senior staff, address, telephone number, hours, subject strengths, circulation policies, and services of more than 150 libraries and information centers within the California state government. The information was collected through questionnaires and telephone calls. Directory entries are arranged by agency and then department title. Individual library and information center names, as well as library directors' names, are included in the indexes. Libraries which have ceased operation since the first edition in 1979 are listed at the end. Introductory material on the California State Library includes: a description of the history and mission of the library, a directory of State Library supervising staff; descriptions of the State Library's services; and a list and description of collections and specialized collections of the library.
