International Students' Views Regarding the Higher Education System in Turkey

Turkey as a developing country aims to increase internationalization of its higher education as it wants to form increased social, economic and cultural relations around the world. From this perspective, the recent increase in the number of international students in Turkish higher education system is of great significance. However, there is still a significant need for the improvement of internationalization in terms of quality and quantity. Accordingly, via a qualitative research design utilizing a semi-structured interview, this case study aims to investigate international university participants are mostly content with the quality of education and living conditions in Turkey. The most common problem is racism although a significant percentage of the participants report that they like Turkish people. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of the problems from the perspective of international students, and this can provide implications for attracting more qualified international students.
