Strother, JoAnna; Jacobs, Ed – School Counselor, 1984
Identified stressful aspects of stepfamily living in 63 high school students who completed a questionnaire. Results indicated that overall stress was not high and was often related to adolescence rather than stepfamily living. Discipline issues and not being able to visit the absent biological parent were rated most stressful. (JAC)

Seligman, Linda; Whitely, Nancy – American Mental Health Counselors Association Journal, 1983
Surveyed 58 Virginia mental health counselors in private practice to examine working hours, fees, and the nature of their practices. Results showed most respondents had only a part time private practice and were employed elsewhere as well. The bulk of their counseling consisted of individual and family counseling. (JAC)

Myers, Jane E. – Personnel and Guidance Journal, 1983
Studied the current status of training opportunities for gerontologial counselors. A survey of 474 university counselor education departments showed that 37% offer coursework to train counselors to work with older people, a 6% increase since 1975.
