Seven workbook-oriented programs and one activity-oriented program were surveyed, and 106 different mathematics concepts were identified for kindergarten mathematics programs. Specific programs presented 31-58 of the concepts. Sixteen projects are described with uses that cover 87 concepts. They are suggested as supplements to any program. (MP)

Described is a study in which three instructional approaches were applied in second grade classes. Discussed are proportional materials, nonproportional materials, nonproportional materials with pictorial models. Findings, results, and recommendations are presented. (CW)

Reports results of interviews in which students were asked to illustrate three interpretations of fractions: a unit subdivided into equal-sized parts; a set subdivided into equal-sized parts; and a ratio. Two areas of difficulty in giving reasonable representations are discussed. Proposes teaching suggestions to overcome these difficulties. (MDH)

Presented are the highlights of a study of educational intervention in the elementary grades that contained a parent-participation component. Included are eight tenets of parental involvement, sample activities, and an evaluation form for home activities. (KR)
