Levy, Kenneth J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1978
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how many more subjects are required to achieve equal power when testing certain hypotheses concerning proportions if the randomized response technique is employed for estimating a population proportion instead of the conventional technique. (Author)

Schriesheim, Chester A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
This study provides support for the hypothesized effect of leniency on the discriminant validity of grouped questionnaire items. It was found that controlling for leniency resulted in a slight decrement in convergent validity but that discriminant validity was substantially improved. Implications for questionnaire validity and further research are…

Reckase, Mark D. – 1981
One of the major assumptions of latent trait theory is that the items in a test measure a single dimension. This report describes an investigation of procedures for forming a set of items that meet this assumption. Factor analysis, nonmetric multidimensional scaling, cluster analysis and latent trait analysis were applied to simulated and real…

Austin, J. Sue – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1992
The efficacy of 5 scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) in detecting fake good, fake bad, and honest profiles was investigated for 110 undergraduate students instructed to fake good, fake bad, or respond honestly. An analysis of variance suggests that these validity scales are useful. (SLD)

Birenbaum, Menucha; Tatsuoka, Kikumi K. – 1980
Much valuable information can be gained by analyzing the students' wrong responses. When a student answers a free response item she/he gives the response which she/he considers to be the correct one. Therefore, diagnosing the algorithm that led the student to his/her answer provides an important source of information for assessing his/her…
