Studied perceptions about the perceived masculinity and femininity of kibbutz male adolescents of 79 Israeli adolescents, half of whom were urban and half of whom were raised on a kibbutz. Kibbutz targets were generally seen as more masculine. Exceptions and differences among urban and rural adolescents are discussed. (SLD)

Describes a study which compared the views of Israeli kibbutz and urban youth on the role of the citizen. Two hundred and twelve urban and 98 kibbutz adolescents rated 36 items according to their importance for good citizenship. In the kibbutz, the citizen's role is much more balanced than in the city. First- and fifth-grade kibbutz and city children (320 in two studies) individually were requested to distribute rewards between themselves and a partner who had produced either more or less than the subject had.
