Results of a survey of elementary, secondary, and college level art teachers indicate that art hazards in the schools represent a real and significant problem. While many art teachers sense that health and safety hazards exist in their classrooms, even they do not always maintain necessary safety practices. (RM)

Determined that an instructional unit on laboratory safety could increase student safety knowledge and reduce the number of unsafe behaviors. A list of unsafe behaviors which were observed with the 333 students is included. A recommendation that positive attitudes toward safety be developed is given. (DH)
