This report consists of (1) a description of conditions that immigrant women face in accommodating themselves to Canadian society, and (2) recommendations to the Federal government for remediating the problems identified. The report was compiled from data collected from a survey of community agencies and organizations, questionnaires distributed through publications, and public meetings of ethnic organizations, and discusses the problems of immigrant women in the following areas: employment, child day care, education, and communications. Also discussed are special problems faced by senior citizens, and the counselling needs of immigrant women of all ages. A brief bibliography of works relevant to immigrant women is appended to the report. (GC)
