Design Principles Guide Educators in Choosing and Using Curriculum Materials. Research Review
Foster, Elizabeth
Learning Professional, v39 n1 p19-23 Feb 2018
Engaging with materials can shape the teaching experience, teachers' practices and mindsets, and, ultimately, students' learning experiences. This issue of "Learning Professional" looks at an area of emerging interest: curriculum materials and the role they play in the daily work of educators and leaders. Educators, researchers, and policymakers are interested in what materials schools and districts use and how best to develop and share them in order to understand and support improved teacher practice and student learning. In this Research Review column, the author examines a recent research study that looks at how curriculum materials impact teaching practice and student learning. The study offers general design principles for educative curriculum materials. [For the study reviewed in this article, "Educative Curriculum Materials: Uptake, Impact, and Implications for Research and Design," see EJ1153282.]
