The release of School Grades by the State of Florida in the late summer of 2010 created quite a stir. Over 500 elementary schools all over the state dropped at least one grade level. Raykov, Tenko – Structural Equation Modeling, 1996
Studied modeling individual latent growth curves of older adults on measures of fluid intelligence by fitting second-order polynomial curves reflecting initial test performance improvement followed by relative stability/drop to the recorded scores of each of 248 subjects. Results suggest substantial plasticity in fluid intelligence of older…

Data from the College Board Validity Study Service show that the average multiple correlation of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with college grades peaked in 1974 and then tended to decline. Data from other sources also estimate a small average decline from 1974 to 1985. This study documented changes in the SAT and related these changes to…

Critchlow, Douglas E.; Verducci, Joseph S. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1992
For paired rankings data, a statistical test is proposed to detect whether subjects' posttreatment rankings have moved systematically toward an unknown ranking or set of rankings. Using paired-rankings from 38 ninth graders in a writing and literary criticism course, graphical methods for representing the data are presented. (SLD)

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores, student-reported high school grades, and scores for four other Admissions Testing Program tests were correlated with freshman grade point average for 299,794 students at 198 colleges from the enrolling classes of 1978, 1981, and 1985. Emanuelsson, Ingemar; And Others – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1993
Changes in verbal, spatial, and reasoning intelligence among Swedish 13-year olds were studied from 1960 to 1990. Rising verbal scores until 1980 have been followed by a decline to essentially the 1960 level. Spatial and reasoning results have risen continuously. Gender and social class differences are discussed. (SLD)
