Undergraduates (N=1000) were surveyed concerning childhood sexual encounters. Forty-two percent of subjects reported a childhood sexual encounter with another child. Chart reviews and telephone interviews with 72 sexual abuse victims found that 48 of the children had symptoms similar to the "rape trauma" syndrome. Confirmed reports of abuse and neglect cases (up to 31,000) were analyzed. Results indicated boys tended to more frequent and more serious injuries; victims of male perpetrators had more serious injuries; there was same-sex perpetrator victim pattern; boys outnumbered girls in all cases except sexual abuse. The paper describes the sexual perpetration behavior of 13 female children (ages 4 to 13).
