In "Unique Characteristics of Diagnostic Classification Models: A Comprehensive Review of the Current State-of-the-Art," Rupp and Templin (2008) undertake the ambitious task of providing a thorough portrait of the current state of diagnostic classification models (DCM). In this commentary, the author applauds Rupp and Templin for their success in this venture and for providing an account that is stimulating from a number of perspectives. Here, the author explores how propositions 1-3 can be jointly maintained through viewing DCMs as instances of evidentiary reasoning. Some implications of this perspective on future work on DCMs conclude the commentary. (Contains 1 table and 1 figure.)
