Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v71 n2 p64-67 Oct 2005
In this article, the author discusses the professional learning communities and describes how this system helps improve schools and reduce teacher isolation. According to Richard and Rebecca Dufour, the best way to improve schools is for schools to function as professional learning communities. Under this system, teachers work in collaborative teams, and the emphasis is not on what teachers teach, but on what students learn. The author emphasizes one of the benefits of professional learning communities, which is a reduction in teacher isolation.
