Voices in Urban Education, n39 p26-32 2014
During the 2013 New York City mayoral race, the coalition A+ NYC--made up of community organizers, social service and advocacy groups, and other citywide and statewide groups--set out to ground the education conversation in research and proven practices. In a campaign called PS 2013, A+ NYC brought together education experts and practitioners as part of a "charrette" process that gathered input from a range of education stakeholders on what an education agenda for New York City should look like. In this article, Megan Hester, Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University's (AISR) principal associate for New York City organizing, interviewed four design team members to get their perspectives on this process for developing policy.
