"Computer Science Can Feed a Lot of Dreams"
Educational Horizons, v93 p8-11 Oct-Nov 2014
Pat Yongpradit is the director of education at Code.org. He leads all education efforts, including professional development and curriculum creation, and he builds relationships with school districts. Pat joined "Educational Horizons" to talk about why it is important to teach computer science--even for non-computer science teachers. This article provides the transcript of the interview. In the interview, Yongpradit provides tips to non-computer science teachers who want to get their students into computer science by teaching coding, but may feel intimidated. He goes on to discuss ways that teachers can promote computer science within their schools and shares one of his favorite stories about teaching computer science. The interview concludes with Yongpradit's thoughts on what's next for Code.org.
