The National Collegiate Drug Awareness Week 1988 (conceived and initiated by the Inter-Association Task Force on Alcohol and Other Substance Issues) began with a Kick-Off Conference of educators that provided students and professionals an opportunity to share ideas and experiences. One-page abstracts of 17 conference presentations are as follows: "Drug Education in the College Curriculum" (Peter L. Myers); "The Contemporary Campus: An Administrator's Point of View" (Thomas D. Aceto); "Drug Policy and Enforcement: Making the Standards Work" (Denyce S. Ford); "Assessing Your Campus Environment" (Elizabeth Broughton); "Aiming Straight" (Carolyn Lichtenberg); "Bridging Communities on Drug Awareness" (Sandra A. Tull and Max Portrey); "Beyond Awareness: Incorporating Drug Education into the Curriculum: The Indiana University Experience" (William J. Bailey); "Liability and Values in Relation to the Institutional Response to Alcohol Abuse and the Use of Prohibited Drugs" (Gary Pavela); "College Life: Breeding Ground for Chemical Dependence or for Immunity Against Substance Abuse" (Robert L. DuPont); "Network to Promote Drug-Free Colleges and Universities" (Edward Hammond); "Changing Attitudes toward Drug Use on Campus" (Dan Manzanares); "Creative Approaches to Drug Education Programming" (Kim Dude); "Taking the Sting Out of Evaluation" (David S. Anderson); "Teaching New Students to Say No" (Brian Bailey and Lisa Dieter-Borisky); "Substance Abuse Policy: Making the Standards Work" (Robert F. Ariosto); "Alcohol and Drug Abuse during the College-Age Years" (Robert L. Trachtenberg); and "Taking Leadership: Enhancing Personal and Professional Effectiveness" (Susan R. Komives). Also included are the Standards for the Network to Promote Drug-Free Colleges and Universities and a list of the planning group for the Network. (SM)
