Discusses reasons for including differential equations in the required course of study for engineering technology (ET) students. Briefly describes mathematics requirements of the ET Division of the School of Engineering at the University of Dayton. Provides an outline of their differential equations course for ET students. A rationale is offered for training teachers in the various fine arts and for training teachers who are specialists in art education. Elementary school teachers need more grounding in subject matter disciplines, and art educators should be steeped in the art they are teaching. (PP)
