Academic librarians who need grants to support research should consider how funding agents approach grant proposals: funding agents look for good, well-researched ideas in their areas of interest that are backed up with pragmatic plans of action and sound budgets, and will be carried out by well-qualified people. A program to develop managers for academic and research libraries is reviewed through the eyes of eight participants. Former interns relate their experiences and impressions while in the program and its effect on their professional careers. (RAA)

Since libraries make obvious targets for economizing, their existence is threatened. Librarians have plans to save them, but strong support is needed from trustees and administrators. Library-faculty partnerships, resource sharing, and the applications of communications and computer technology to bibliographic processes are discussed. (Author/MLW)
