Profile Survey VII, 1976-1977 Season.
Nakamoto, Kent
This study of the professional touring performing arts during the 1976-77 season sought to determine how the performing arts are programmed and funded by college and community organizations. The questionnaire, which is appended, was mailed to all institutional members of the Association of College, University, and Community Arts Administrators. The questionnaires from 136 colleges and universities, and 33 nonprofit organizations were analyzed. Information is presented on the educational level of institutions, student enrollments, departmental assignment and divisional assignment of performing arts programs, and employee and volunteer information. Administrators are described in terms of demographic and background information, job and work characteristics, professional affiliations and activities, and salaries. Information on facilities includes seating capacity, facility use rate by type, and facility descriptions. Additional information concerns types of performances, regional variation in programs, number of performances, financial statistics, and marketing information. Appendices provide information on regional groupings of states; comparative data for previous surveys; information on regional program variation; comparative data on different types of programs; and detailed institutional descriptive statistics.
