Work Smarter, Not Harder: Structured Reflection Protocol. Listening to Student Voices Self-Study Toolkit. [Videotape].
Appalachia Educational Lab., Charleston, WV.; Northwest Regional Educational Lab., Portland, OR.
This 19-minute VHS videotape introduces the structured reflection protocol, a tool designed to help teachers learn by working together and by using student work as a beginning point for their learning together. The videotape shows scenes of the structured reflection protocol being used in diverse school settings (elementary, secondary, rural, urban, and suburban) as a way for teachers to learn with and from one another. Beginning with a question about student learning, teachers study student work for possible answers, reflect openly about their successes and their challenges as teachers, and receive feedback from colleagues that both affirms their teaching strengths and stretches them to consider new ideas. The videotape is designed to be used with other materials in the self-study toolkit. (SM)
