Systematic Behavioural Observation. School and Behaviour = L'Observation systematique du comportement. Ecole et comportement.
Champoux, Lyne; And Others
This guide, presented in both the English and French language versions is designed to accompany a 36-minute video illustrating systematic behavioral observation methods. Together, the video and the guide comprise a training module that suggests simple and effective observational methods that will help teachers in Quebec assess students objectively and, if necessary, develop more successful instructional approaches. The guide provides information on the advantages of applying observational methods in the school and on the steps involved in observation, which include definition of behavior, behavior analysis, choice of method of observation, and interpretation of results. It also offers concrete examples of observation and suggests the appropriate observational method in each case. Appendixes contain a classification of child behavior and various behavioral analysis and observation charts. (JDD)
