Presented are simple programs in BASIC and FORTRAN to apply the method of least squares. They calculate gradients and intercepts and express errors as standard deviations. An introduction of undergraduate students to such programs in a chemistry class is reviewed, and issues instructors should be aware of are noted. (MP)

A program in BASIC for the Atari 400 or 800 computer that generates Haiku poetry is presented and explained. The program is noted to be easily modifiable to create other forms. The view expressed in the program could become the basis for a student laboratory in expressive communication. (MP)

The use of a videodisc series on history is used as an example of their potential for the classroom. Other examples are drawn from art, language arts, and science. Information on authoring systems for videodiscs has been tabulated, and a directory of archival videodiscs is included. (MNS)

An unusual shape is considered, and properties and steps in drawing it are detailed. The focus is on development and presentation of a computer program that will draw the curve. The program is written in BASIC with special plotting commands for a Techtronix computer, but is adaptable to other systems. (MP)

This program produces multiple-choice examinations from a pool of questions created by the user. The output is a printed copy of the exam and an answer key. The program is written in Applesoft BASIC and requires an Apple II Plus computer with 32K, a disk drive, and a printer. (MP)

Provides an updated list of films and videotapes that was initially developed in 1970 for the British Society for Developmental Biology. Includes sections on cellular and genetic aspects, invertebrates, and vertebrates. The newer films are listed by title, in alphabetical order, with details of the maker, content, and duration. (ML)

A program developed by a high school freshman is presented that plots unusual graphs on the screen of a TRS-80 computer. The view promoted is that teachers of advanced mathematics should not be surprised if new ways of looking at the subject come from students interacting with computers. (MP)

Ways to combine the strengths of teacher and computer are suggested. Multiplication concepts and an algorithm for multiplication are taught in the same lessons. The computer is used as an electronic chalkboard to teach at a semiconcrete level. The computer program is included. (MNS)
