The degree to which 484 Japanese, Korean, and American subjects sacrificed their self-gain to benefit in-group members in allocating a group reward was tested. Compared Vietnamese and Anglo-American students' (N=74) attitudes toward counseling and their preferences for help providers using a four-part questionnaire. Examined the degree of temporal stability of the PPVT-R for 56 Native-American, Mexican-American, and Anglo-American kindergarten children. Finds that, among 263 Hispanic and 150 non-Hispanic White smokers, Hispanics smoked fewer cigarettes, had lower levels of perceived addiction to nicotine, and had higher perceived self-efficacy to avoid smoking, but these differences shrank with greater acculturation.
