The intergenerational effect of mother's or father's possession of a baccalaureate degree was examined for two racial groups who were respondents to the 1971 and l980 CIRP surveys. From 1969 to 1984 the value women put on status-attainment goals has increased, but the value placed on domestic-nurturant goals has not decreased. This shows an amalgamation rather than a masculinization of feminine values. The increase in women aspiring to graduate degrees was greater than for men. Implications are discussed. (VM)

A study of 142 children (Grades K-1) indicated that those whose mothers were currently employed chose a greater number of occupations and more masculine-oriented occupations, than did children of nonemployed mothers.
