Vancouver, Jeffrey B.; And Others – Academic Medicine, 1990
The study with 497 majority and 82 minority medical students found that grade point averages for undergraduate science courses and a composite Medical College Admissions test score based on science and reading subtests were both valid and equally predictive of scores on the National Board of Medical Examiners Examination, Part I. (Author/DB)

Lord, Catherine; Schopler, Eric – Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 1989
Comparisons were made of intelligence and developmental quotients for young autistic children (n=216) at initial assessment and reassessment at least two years later. Five-year follow-up data were then gathered to evaluate the relationship between stability of scores and age at initial assessment, severity of delay, and type of test. (Author/PB)

Overton, Terry; Apperson, Jennifer – Diagnostique, 1989
The Cognitive Levels Test (CLT) and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) were administered to 30 freshman college students at a small state college in the mid-Atlantic region. Significant correlations indicate that the PPVT-R measures a component of the CLT. Mean PPVT-R scores were significantly higher than CLT means. (Author/PB)

Dornstein, Miriam; Matalon, Yossi – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1989
Administered questionnaire to 250 Israeli army personnel to examine 17 variables as potential predictors of organizational commitment. Found 8 variables to be relevant: interesting work, co-workers' attitudes toward the organization, organizational dependency, age, education, employment alternatives, attitudes of family and friends, and importance…

Dekker, R.; And Others – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1990
This article summarizes results of statistical analyses of an intelligence test for 155 braille-educated blind and low-vision children, aged 6-15, in the Netherlands. Results indicate some accuracy in predicting academic achievement; factor analysis indicates 4 interpretable factors in children with and without usable vision. (Author/PB)

Simner, Marvin L. – Journal of School Psychology, 1989
Evaluated effectiveness of abbreviated Printing Performance School Readiness Test in identifying at-risk or failure-prone children (N=171) at the start of prekindergarten by following subjects for three years. Found form errors in children's printing could be scored reliably and that they remained stable over time and were tied to children's…

Lynch, Brian; And Others – Language Testing, 1988
An investigation of person dimensionality attempted to identify student clusters relating to demographic variables and their core on a university English-as-a-Second-Language placement examination. The two genuine clusters for students with scores in the top or bottom 27 percent could not be accounted for solely on an ability basis. (CB)

Gomez, Joseph J.; Stephenson, Robert S. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1987
To determine the criterion-related validity of the Dade County (Florida) Management Assessment Center for the selection of school-level administrators, ratings of 121 school principals, assistant principals, and candidates were correlated with subsequent job performance ratings. Allen, David; Nora, Amaury – Research in Higher Education, 1995
In a study of the construct validity of goal commitment in college student persistence, goal commitment was decomposed into multiple indicators of the same latent construct. Predictive validity of each subcomponent on different outcomes related to persistence was established. Only one factor was found to have a significant direct effect on student…

Johnson, Nancy E.; And Others – Assessment, 1994
Development of an alternate form of Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices Test is described. Reliability analysis with 449 children of differing racial/ethnic backgrounds showed good reliability and comparable predictive validity. The alternate form is a promising research tool. (SLD)

Young, John W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1994
An investigation was conducted to determine whether differential predictive validity, as detected in previous studies, exists for a recent sample of 3,703 college students. Results confirmed that the phenomenon still exists. For women, but not minorities, the difference in predictive validity appears related to course selection. (SLD)

DeMauro, G. – Language Testing, 1992
Several analyses are presented on the relationships among the Test of Spoken English, Test of Written English, and Test of English as a Foreign Language. The multivariate prediction of each test from the scores on the others is very accurate; variances with two prominent factors may relate to specific cognitive test-taking skills. (eight…
