Ansley, Timothy N.; Forsyth, Robert A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
Correlations between the achievement test scores of 2,000 entering freshmen in 1977 and measures of college performance were similar to those reported for tests of the college entrance type. Michael, Joan J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
The predictive validity of eight variables (the undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and the quantitative, verbal, and total scores of the Undergraduate Record Examinations and the Graduate Record Examinations) were evaluated relative to graduate GPA for graduate students who had completed masters' degree programs in education. (Author/PN)

Markert, Ronald J. – Journal of Medical Education, 1985
A statistical comparison of scores on the previous and redesigned Medical College Admission Tests showed that neither was a powerful predictor of scores on the National Board of Medical Examiners Part III examination, a measure of clinical competence at the first-year resident level. Other subtest results were also found. (MSE)

Noeth, Richard J. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1983
Described the prediction of actual occupation from expressed vocational choice when enhanced by measures of career development. Subjects were junior class members of a national study who were working three years later (N=1,994). The Assessment of Career Development (ACD) scales did not contribute to the predictive accuracy of vocational choice.…

Green, Bonnie L.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1983
Examined the usefulness of the Psychiatric Evaluation Form (PEF) scales to quantify clinical interview data for children (N=207) who were survivors of the Buffalo Creek flood. Ratings from interviews conducted six months apart and by interviewers with different purposes were significantly correlated, suggesting the PEF scales are valid. (JAC)

Ghiselli, William B. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Studied predictability of therapeutic outcome of an alcoholism treatment program. Galbraith, Richard C. – Intelligence, 1982
Zajonc and Bargh's (EJ 241 537) application of the confluence model to six national data sets is critiqued. Extreme differences in intelligence levels are predicted between nations, including substantial retardation for some populations. Moreover, the parameter values used do not allow mental growth functions which are consistent with previous…

Morris, John R. – New Directions for Testing and Measurement, 1982
Where human beings are concerned and complex behavior is involved, prediction of future performance is no simple matter. Scientifically developed, systematically standardized and carefully validated tests have emerged as the most reliable tools in predictive efficacy. If opponents of standardized testing win, society will lose. (Author/CM)
