The study compared human figure drawings (using the Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test and Koppitz' Emotional Indicators) of 26 hearing-impaired and 26 normal-hearing children and adolescents. No significant differences were found between groups but the Emotional Indicators did not perform as predicted in determining emotional disturbance. (Author/DB)

A Barnum group rated the personal accuracies of a list of personality inventory items and then an equivalent list of bogus feedback. Study results indicated that the TEMAS (Tell-me-a-story), a new thematic apperception test which depicts ethnic minority figures, cultural themes, and urban backgrounds, produced increased responsiveness in 76 Hispanic children to culturally relevant stimuli and may be a promising instrument for assessment of minority children. The relationship between 15 emotional indicators on the Bender Gestalt Test and the acting out behavior of 93 children, ages 5 to 12, as rated by their teachers, was investigated. Use of the Bender as a projective measure was seriously questioned. The ten-item behavioral rating scale is appended. (MH)
