Surveyed current methods and problems in the assessment of alcohol and drug abuse among adolescents through interviews with professionals from 70 facilities. Results showed that methods used to assess adolescents varied greatly and that the professionals surveyed were receptive toward the idea of more standardized methods of assessment. (LLL)

Found that American Indian youths tend to experience more serious consequences of drinking than do White youths from the same area with regard to feeling high, getting drunk, passing out, suffering loss of memory, being stopped by police, having automobile accidents, and getting into trouble with parents. Studied the relationship of psychosocial factors to alcohol abuse among college students (N=272). The psychosocial profile of the college student alcohol abuser was that of a male underclassman, who tends to consume beer more often and in greater quantities than nonabusers.
