Presents a general introduction to the alcohol drug problem. A field-tested instrument of 20 true-false items is provided which reflects on the nature, effects, variables, and consequences of alcohol and its use. Beechem, Michael – Journal of Drug Education, 1997
Describes an instrument that identifies the risk of late-onset (reactive) alcoholism and the presence of unresolved loss-grief issues. Instrument was tested on 96 adults aged 60 and over. Found an interrelationship between unresolved loss-grief issues and depression. Rates the likelihood that these conditions may lead to alcoholism. (EMK)
