Teachers' Ratings of Deaf Chiildren: An American-Danish Comparison.

Teachers' ratings of elementary- and secondary-level hearing impaired students in Denmark (N=289) and the United States (N=732) were collected and compared; results showed that scores on the Meadow/Kendall Social Emotional Inventory subscales (social adjustment, emotional adjustment, self-image) were almost identical. The Meadow/Kendall Social-Emotional Assessment Battery for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Students was used in a cross-national comparison of 581 students (ages 6-12) in Israel, Denmark, and the United States. Results showed marked similarity among all three groups in social adjustment, self-image, and emotional adjustment. (JW)
