Disabled children who have special clothing needs can be comfortable, self-confident, and fashionable when careful consideration is given to selection of clothing in terms of physical limitations of the individual, design features of clothing, fasteners, fabric, wearing qualities, and fit. (CB)

Parents are advised on ways to cope with the peer pressure associated with clothes. Techniques focus on countering and preventing peer pressure or, at least, putting it into healthier perspective. A list of retorts children can make to peer critics is included. (IAH)

A coat was adapted for a 20-year-old severely handicapped woman to control her practice of "mouthing" her hands and clothing. Velcro strips attached to the coat held the student's arms down long enough to allow for differential reinforcement of appropriate behavior, which successfully reduced the rate of mouthing. (JDD)
