Wilson, Kenneth M. – 1983
The criterion most frequently used in studies designed to assess the predictive validity of measures used in college admission has been the freshman-year grade point average (GPA). It is not self-evident that the first-year GPA provides either a sufficient or a representative sample of a student's academic performance. Questions have been raised…

Savage, Tom V. – 1984
Scores on standardized tests and high school grade point average are not always good predictors of the academic ability or potential success of students choosing to become teachers. Linn, Robert L.; Hastings, C. Nicholas – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1984
Using predictive validity studies of the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and the undergraduate grade-point average (UGPA), this study examined the large variation in the magnitude of the validity coefficients across schools. LSAT standard deviation and correlation between LSAT and UGPA accounted for 58.5 percent of the variability. (Author/EGS)

Fairweather, Malcolm – College Student Journal, 1981
Assessed the spatial dimension of college enrollment and develops a model explaining the distributional patterns. The potential model uses migration theory and statistical techniques and has accurately predicted student enrollment patterns in the United States and Great Britain. (Author/JAC)

Hecht, Steven A.; Greenfield, Daryl B. – School Psychology Review, 2001
Compares the relative utility of teacher ratings versus several kinds of reading-related tests measured in the first grade in predicting third grade levels of reading skills in a sample of predominantly ethnic minority children exposed to poverty. Analyses indicated that, in general, teacher ratings predicted later individual differences in…

Carran, Deborah T.; Scott, Keith G. – Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, 1992
Epidemiological techniques were used to reanalyze studies that had longitudinally tracked preschool or kindergarten children, to determine results of screens for the identification of educationally at-risk children. A paradigm shift is recommended, away from longitudinal studies for predictive validity and toward risk analysis and interpretation.…

Wilson, Kenneth M. – 1978
A longitudinal analysis of the records of performance of cohorts of minority and nonminority students in two different undergraduate settings was used to determine the predictive validity of admissions tests and school rank in determining long range and short range outcomes for college students. Witmer, David R. – 1979
A search for better predictors of incomes of high school and college graduates is described. The accuracy of the prediction, implicit in the work of John R.
