McGann, John P. – Learning & Memory, 2015
Historically, the body's sensory systems have been presumed to provide the brain with raw information about the external environment, which the brain must interpret to select a behavioral response. Consequently, studies of the neurobiology of learning and memory have focused on circuitry that interfaces between sensory inputs and behavioral…

Pande, Prajakt; Chandrasekharan, Sanjay – Studies in Science Education, 2017
Multiple external representations (MERs) are central to the practice and learning of science, mathematics and engineering, as the phenomena and entities investigated and controlled in these domains are often not available for perception and action. MERs therefore play a twofold constitutive role in reasoning in these domains. Firstly, MERs stand…

Hellstrom, Ake – Psychological Bulletin, 1985
In comparative judgments of two stimuli separated by a time interval, there is often a systematic asymmetry (time-order error). From a review of the literature it is concluded that the time-order error should be classified as a perceptual phenomenon that can be predicted with adaptation-level theory and sensation weighting. (Author/CB)

Casbergue, Renee M.; Greene, Jane Fell – Journal of Reading, 1988
Argues that sensory screening does not identify children at risk for reading or learning disability, and that sensory training does not improve reading or learning. (RAE)

King, Alison – 1981
In response to a growing interest among educators in improving aesthetic education, this paper explores aesthetic response, defined as what happens in the mind and body of a person who encounters an aesthetic object or phenomenon. An initial section overviews the major theories of aesthetic response, including the work of Plato, Aristotle, Freud,…
