The article uses a case example to show how the structured life-review technique was modified and used in a cross-cultural counseling situation. Specifically, the structured life-review technique was modified to meet the cultural requirements of indirectness, harmony, and acknowledgment of indebtedness and the view of the helper as teacher, valued among the Japenese minority in America.
