Chapter 1 of this monograph provides an overview of student evaluation in physical education. A discussion is presented on the purposes of evaluation: diagnosing, grouping, motivating, grading, and programing. Included in the overview are sample forms for evaluation breakdown for seven units of a physical education course and a student cumulative record. Chapter 2 deals with measurement in the psychomotor domain. Different types of psychomotor evaluation are outlined and suggestions are provided for finding various psychomotor tests and information on how to construct an evaluation instrument. The third chapter deals with measuring the cognitive domain. Outlines are presented for testing considerations, test construction, and the types of tests that may be utilized to measure cognitive development. Chapter 4 discusses measuring in the in the affective domain. This domain is concerned with the social behavior, attitudes and self-concept of students. Recommended resources and a bibliography are included. Specific tests for each domain are appended. (JD)
