This handbook is designed to acquaint instructional aides in Indiana's elementary schools with the various aspects of their job. Included are helpful hints and a variety of resource materials considered likely to be useful. Contents focus on the following: (1) qualifications; (2) instructional, clerical, and auxiliary duties; (3) working relationships with administrators, teachers, and students; (4) important operating procedures and suggestions for improving effectiveness; and (5) such resources as 100 ways to say "Very Good," a list of simple instructional techniques, a glossary of educational terms, a pupil interview guide, a reading attitude inventory, an attitude questionnaire, a scale of reading attitude, an interest inventory, a list of frequently encountered words from a collection of word lists for beginning readers, and sample lesson plans.
