Allied Health Education in Texas: Guiding Concepts for the '80s. CB Study Paper 29.
Texas Coll. and Univ. System, Austin. Coordinating Board.
Recommendations designed to form a framework for the planning, evaluation, and development of allied health education programs in Texas colleges and universities are presented. The recommendations are based on a year of study by an advisory committee on the proliferation of allied health disciplines and programs, increasing specialization, credentialing of allied health personnel, career mobility, accreditation, and continuing education and retraining. Recommendations on these issues are directed both to educational institutions and to the Coordinating Board. A summary of the recommendations, discussions of the subcommittees' findings on each of the study areas, and the rationale for the recommendations are presented. Appended materials include a glossary, a proposed process for review of allied health proposals, and an example of an inventory for allied health professions. (SW)
