A System for Developing I.E.P.s-Survival Skills for Planners.
Fineblum, Carol M.
The paper describes a process for planning, implementing, servicing, and revising handicapped children's individualized education programs (IEPs). The procedure is based on a developmental approach with emphasis on systematic instruction and methodical planning of long-term objectives. Sample record sheets suggest a format for detailing strengths and weaknesses following evaluation. Developmental skills within domains are coded for consistent use in the IEP and its updated revisions. A four-step process is outlined from coding weaknesses to selecting instructional objectives and annually updating the IEP. The procedure is said to assure economy while safeguarding individualization. An inventory of materials in perception, reading, math, and language is included in the appendix. (CL)
