This handbook is designed for use by personnel delivering recreation services to the homebound elderly. It helps the staff members discover more about recreational activities suitable to a specific client's needs, selection of activities, and the methods of introducing activities to the homebound. Assessment techniques aid the worker in learning the preferences, abilities, and disabilities of the client. Elements necessary to conduct an activity, include preparation, explanation and demonstration, practice, evaluation, special situations, and miscellaneous points to remember are delineated. Modification and adaptation of activities receive special attention. For selected activities, the objective, purpose, associated activities, equipment, methods, and special comments are outlined. A bibliography and list of supply houses complete the booklet which is supplemented by the companion Trainer's Manual and Resource Guide. (LS)
