This program introduces the young computer players to the world of the grizzly bear, the largest land carnivore in North America. Through a series of four interactive stories, players learn of the bear's habits and human activities that have brought it close to extinction. Playing the part of a park ranger, a research biologist or a natural resource developer, the player searches for creative solutions to the conflicts between man and the bear. Part 1 describes the operating instructions for the program including booting, signing on, choosing a story, and record-keeping. Part 2 presents the facts on a grizzly bear including the history, distribution, food, hibernation, research, and wildlife management. Part 3 provides 15 activities focusing on scientific concepts common to all living creatures, and a table of curriculum guides containing descriptions of specific skills and the activities developing the skill. In each activity, the description, objective, background, materials, procedure, extension, and evaluation are described. Worksheets and a glossary are appended. There are 23 references. (YP)
