Designed to serve as a preliminary guide for curriculum development and science instruction in South Carolina, this booklet identifies basic skill objectives in science for grades one through eight. Categories of South Carolina's Basic Skills Assessment Program (BSAP) for science include: (1) science concepts; (2) science process skills; (3) science and technology; and (4) nature of science. Explanations of these objectives are provided in two sections: "Science Objectives across Grades" and "Science Objectives by Grade." The "Across Grades" section identifies each objective's general purpose and illustrates the continuum of concept and skill development at each grade. The "By Grade" section contains a statement and overview of each of the four objectives, a list of specific concepts and skills related to each of the objectives, and examples of the concepts and skills for each objective for grades one through eight.
