"Nobody Told Me It Was Rape": A Parent's Guide for Talking with Teenagers about Acquaintance Rape and Sexual Exploitation.
Adams, Caren; Fay, Jennifer
This book was written to help parents talk to their adolescent children about acquaintance rape and sexual exploitation. It may also be useful to family life educators presenting units on rape and sexual exploitation. Acquaintance rape and sexual exploitation are explained in the first section. The second section discusses talking with teenagers by examining how to get started, what to say, what constitutes consent, and how to use examples. Several prevention ideas are suggested in the third section. The fourth section looks at messages from the media. The fifth section describes teenagers at risk for acquaintance rape and sexual assault. The final section on recovery information lists 10 steps parents can use to help their teenager who has been a victim of acquaintance rape or sexual assault. (NB)
