This report presents important issues involved in the use of volunteers in the juvenile justice system. Chapter I discusses volunteer program designs, organizational structure, potential program applications, and public relations. Chapter II reviews the volunteer: who he is, his motives for volunteering, and suggestions for recruiting, screening, training and matching. Chapter III comments on the legal issues involved in using volunteers, including the liability of the state/agency and the volunteer and the insurance programs for volunteers.
