Classroom Discipline: Case Studies and Viewpoints.
Kohut, Sylvester, Jr.; Range, Dale G.
This guide is designed for both preservice and inservice teachers concerned about classroom management and discipline as they relate to learning. The case studies and illustrations included are actual real-life situations observed, recorded, documented, and contributed by teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals throughout the country in kindergarten through senior high school. The case studies represent problems and issues common to urban, suburban, and rural school districts and school personnel. Possible solutions to problems are offered, although no single best course of action is insisted upon. Theory and research findings that relate to classroom discipline are also included. The basic purpose of the text is to provide a practical guide for understanding and improving classroom communication in order to improve discipline. (Author/JM)
