A versatile inservice package of resources for school districts is presented that could be used as the basis for a college course or to provide content for shorter training sessions. The materials are appropriate for training school administrators, teachers, other professionals, and parent groups that serve handicapped children. The package is presented in six sessions: (1) overview of the inservice program and P.L. 94-142; (2) handicapping conditions; (3) special education terminology; (4) media services, equipment, online computer searches; (5) individualized educational programs; (6) role of the media specialist in serving handicapped children and the use of standard criteria for the selection and evaluation of instructional materials. A bibliography of resources for each session is attached; however, suggestions for using simulation exercises, slide programs, transparencies, film strips, surveys, and other ideas recorded on tapes that are included in the complete package are not provided in this document.
