A MultiComponent Approach to Evaluation for Teacher Improvement.

The purpose of this document is to serve as a resource on materials used for evaluation of teacher performance. Developed by the Kalamazoo Public Schools, it is a method for examining teacher performance in the form of the Teacher Performance Profile (TPP). The two major purposes of the TPP are to serve as a comprehensive system that provides instructional staff with relevant feedback for the improvement of their performance and professional development, and to serve as a formal evaluation of teachers by their principals. The TPP consists of the following components: (1) student ratings; (2) principal evaluations; (3) peer ratings; (4) parent ratings (elementary level); (5) self-ratings (student, principal, and peer); and (6) student achievement data. The instruments used to collect data for the various components of the TPP are presented, as well as several articles pertaining to teacher accountability and a study showing the relationships between the various components of the TPP.
